World Class Field Assembled

A World class field has assembled for the 2018 Platinum Electrical Victorian Sidecar Speedway Championships at Olympic Park Speedway this Australia Day January 26th.

Sixteen riders will be battle it out over 20 heats and two finals with the worlds best sidecar teams keen to add a state title to there honours list. Headlining the field is reigning World Sidecar Champions Locals Warren Monson and Andrew Summerhayes. Monson/Summerhayes will be looking to add another Victorian title to there resume after the disappointment of last years event when they went through the heats undefeated but had to pull out of the final when there air filters caught on fire just as they where getting pushed off for the final.

Other teams that will fancy there chances at becoming Victorian number one will be reigning champions Mark Plaisted and local Ben Pitt, reigning Australian Sidecar Champions Trent Headland and Daz Whetsone, Broken Hill Sidecar Champions Rick Howse and Adam Commons and reigning Australia two team New Zealand’s Andrew Buchannan and Denny Cox.

The sixteen rider field is so even with 10 to 12 teams that have a genuine chance of taking home the number one plate. You cant discount former World Champion Mick Headland/Brenton Kerr, Olympic Park track specialists Damien Niesche/Mitch Spear, Gates Sidecar Cup Winners Aaron and Teagan Hartwig and the Queensland father son team of Dave and Chris Bottrell.

A strong local contingent will be out to battle the top teams, Former Victorian Champion Byren Gates and Mick O’Loughlin are always hard to beat around Olympic Park along with the ever improving Neale Hancock and Brock Gates who have taken some big scalps this season. Other Locals in the mix will be Clint Mayes and Sean Coleby, Adon Pearce and Eli Bock, Chris Dess and Cam Diwell, Nathan Cock and Jack Wilson and Mark Radford and Blake Halls.

Classic Sidecars and the Euro Floor Victorian Under 16 Sidecar Championships will also feature on the predicted hot night. Gates open at 5pm with main racing starting at 7.30pm.
