EPIC SIDECAR SHOWDOWN The Inaugural Noddy Riordans Paint and Panel Gates Sidecar Cup promises to be one of the most hotly contested sidecar meetings in years on Sunday November the 5th at Olympic Park Speedway as part of the Mildura Motorcycle Club 70th Anniversary at Olympic Park Speedway. The whos who of sidecar racing will be in actions with World Champions, Australian Champions and State champions spread though the twelve rider field. Local World Sidecar Champions Warren Monson and Andrew Summerhayes are the team now that everyone one wants to beat and will fancy there chances around there home track. Arguably the greatest of all time Darrin Treloar with Jesse Headland back in the chair will be hoping to get back to the top of the sport after last seasons disappointment in losing there Australian and World Championship crowns you can never right off Treloar around Olympic Park. New Australian Sidecar Champions Trent Headland and Daz Whetstone have a point to prove to now as the new Australian Champions the last time they were at Olympic Park they won. Former World Champ Mick Headland with local Brenton Kerr will be looking forward to a season with no injuries and bad luck, Headland senior when on song is pretty hard to beat in Mildura. Local favourites Byren Gates and Mick O’Loughlin will be doing everything in there power on trying to win the Inaugural Gates Sidecar Cup . The trophy is named after the long association of the Gates family and the Mildura Motorcycle Club. Other Sidecar teams that will fancy there chances will be reigning Victorian Sidecar Champions Mark Plaisted and Ben Pitt, former Australian number #3 Shane Hudson and Cam Bell, Victorian number two sidecar team Damien Niesche and Mitch Spear, Olympic Park Track specialists Rick Howse and Adam Commons all these teams have placed in Australian and state championships. Rounding out the twelve rider field will be Waikerie brother/sister team of Arron and Teagan Hartwig, and local Sidecar teams in Neale Hancock and Deans Hobbs and Clint Mayes and Sean Coleby all these teams are capable of beating there more fancied opponents and making the final. The Phil Crump Solo Trophy will run in conjunction with the Gates Sidecar Cup along with a solo and classic sidecar legends classes.
