NO FLOOD ISSUES AT OLYMPIC PARK – AUSTRALIAN SOLO TITLE
SATURDAY 29TH JANUARY 2011
With just five days to go before the 2011 Australian Solo Speedway Titles come to a head at Mildura’s Olympic Park Speedway, the Club advises that there are no issues with FLOODING to the grounds of the Olympic Park circuit. There is NO RISK to the meeting going on !
The level of the Murray River adjacent to the famous track is still within its banks and the Club is monitoring the situation well ahead of the expected “high river peak” at Mildura in some weeks time. The Club does not expect any issues at that time, given the Club’s long history at the Olympic Park site and our understanding of the river.
Heavy rains this season have caused the Mildura Club to postpone some meetings already, due to water lying in the Club grounds, but quick action with pumps can alleviate that situation very quickly. Car parking for patrons is always of concern when we get heavy rains, but flood activity will not stop the final round of the Title series from being held.
A contingency plan has been worked through by Club officials so rest assured “there will be a cracker meeting” for the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club – 2011 Australian Solo Championship on SATURDAY 29th January.
